Whilst we were in lockdown I purchased some stick on coffin nails, you may have seen them over on my Instagram page and they were awesome but for the most part I had naked nails and I hated it.

If I’m honest my natural nails weren’t great, they were short and split super easily and after years of acrylics I had mild onycholysis on a couple of them. If you don’t know what that is you can check it out here. I found out that tea tree oil helped so I applied it every night and let my nails do their thing.

After seeing lots of peoples gorgeous nails on the ‘gram when lockdown restrictions started to lift I got massive fomo and decided to get mine done too.

When I had my super long acrylic nails I would get all sorts of weird and wonderful designs but I have since realised I enjoy having the full use of my fingers.

I can flush the loo properly, I can do buttons up and I can open cans of fizzy pop without fear of a nail pinging off or splitting. Girls if you’ve had acrylics you’ll know what I mean-the pain is unbearable!

I discovered Beauty By Dolls on Facebook and first went there to get my make up done for a friends wedding.

I LOVED IT.

Holli delivered exactly what I wanted and more. At this point I was still addicted to my acrylics though so went back to my usual place that I had been going to for years and continued to get them.

Holli’s gel nails kept popping up on my feed and I realised I could still have my weird and wonderful designs and not damage my nails so I decided to pay her a visit for the first time in February.

I think I managed to squeeze in one more before lockdown hit.

I had been so impressed with the nails I had done and the advice Holli had given me I just knew I wanted to go back after lockdown.

I also knew Holli had implemented a New Policy so I felt completely safe going in to see her.

Some of the treatments available.

Before going into the salon I sanitised my hands and then sanitised again on entering. Holli called me through and we were both wearing masks.

She sat behind a Perspex screen the whole time and the whole studio was clean and hygienic.

I showed Holli the designs I had found on Instagram and she adapted them to suit both me and her ( I never like to copy them exactly) and OH MY GOODNESS I loved them.

We noticed that my thumb nails were always breaking off at weird angles so Holli advised cuticle oil-did you know you also have a cuticle at the top of your nails? Because I certainly didn’t.

Two weeks later I popped back in again for my holiday nails ( I was going on a staycation to Cornwall) and my nails were in much better condition. This time I let Holli have free reign on the design and she KILLED IT.

It’s always a laugh visiting Beauty By Dolls, Holli is super personable, knowledgeable and explains what she’s doing through each treatment.

If you are based in the Salisbury/Tidworth/Andover area definitely check out her work.

I’m not going to lie, getting beauty treatments done post lockdown IS weird mainly because the whole experience is very different to what it used to be like before.

However, its not awful and I still found getting my nails done super relaxing.

If you are still worried about going out or getting any treatments done discuss your worries with your beauty therapist before going. It is their job to make you feel super comfortable and at ease.

Or just go and see Holli, she’s awesome!

How have you found it going back to getting treatments?

As always peace love and huggles,

Jess AKA That Quirky Girl.
